An ode to Women

500 years of female portraits in western art are shown in this interesting animation, where the images seem to be brought to life one after another, and even more intriguing, one by the other. True, there is no black women represented there, as someone commented on youtube, but it's really worth taking this travel in the centuries that shows us how different, yet how alike we are, not only in different countries, but even through time.

One interesting thing I found out is "John Berger's observation that women in the past have primarily been portrayed as being seen while women in more recent times are shown doing the seeing."
